I’ve always dreamed of angel investing at some point in my life, however there are two rather large problems I have to resolve first:
- I need a lot of capital
- I don’t really know shit about carefully investing in startups with said capital
While I’m aware there is ALOT more to angel investing than resolving the problems above, I am as optimistic as I am inquisitive. I’m always looking for a way to get my foot in the door to learn and experiment with the least risk possible. Last week HackerNews had a post on a new site I couldn’t resist playing with. If you haven’t heard of Exchangel.co seriously, do yourself a favor and go check it out. It’s new, and definitely rough around the edges, but the concept is great!
You’re given “$500K” to start, which you can use to participate in any company’s seed round. After the seed round, the company shares are traded like in the public stock market.
I’ve since participated in about 4 seed rounds, walking away with the beginnings of a mediocre, but still profitable, portfolio. It’s a fun fantasty league, and at the very least an interesting way to learn about new startups. I hope to see more from Josh on this in the future.
